I’m sure my wife Janice and our two teenagers Mark and Kristin will tell you, I have Syntec running through my veins! I have been with Castrol for over thirty years, recently retiring in June 2004 as the Chief Operating Officer of the BP Consumer Lubricants business in North America. BP and Castrol are great companies and have provided many opportunities for gaining significant experience in best practice, within the industry across the globe. I’m very confident in launching Wakefield as BP/Castrol’s Sales, Marketing and Distribution strategic partner in Canada. For my entire life, I have wanted to own and run a business. Wakefield provides significant opportunity for success. It represents a global branded product that’s readily identifiable as superior (by its consumers and customers), and most importantly Wakefield has an experienced and successful management team with enormously dedicated employees. I never imagined that a business I could have an ownership interest in could have all of those qualities combined! I’ve met with many of our customers across the country to explain the Wakefield story, and I’m very pleased with the overwhelming positive response. It’s a significant change for the BP/Castrol business and the aftermarket in general, but the opportunity it creates for Castrol, and the potential it will unleash for the brand in Canada, makes it an incredible opportunity. In the words of many of our customers, it just makes sense! This is a great Canadian business story!
