Wakefield Canada Launches H2Blu Diesel Exhaust Fluid
April 8, 2011
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 8, 2011) - Wakefield Canada Inc. launches H2Blu, its new Diesel Exhaust
Fluid (DEF) to the Canadian HD marketplace on May 1, 2011.
H2Blu is formulated with an emphasis on purity and performance providing Canadian carriers with consistent product
reliability. Quality and storage considerations are critical to users; Wakefield's earned reputation as a respected blender and
distributor of premium products assures consistent attention to QC.
The purity of H2Blu will enable users to realize the substantial benefits from SCR Technology engines. Such benefits as
improved fuel performance by up to 5%, less heat and fewer contaminants in engine components and meeting EPA and
Canadian Emissions Standards.
Broad distribution via Wakefield Canada's existing HD and expanding fleet distribution networks assure availability right across
the country. This distribution network will build product availability continuously as the demand for DEF increases in the
immediate future driven by new vehicles meeting the EPA's January 2010 specs replacing older vehicles on the road.
H2Blu will be offered through Wakefield as follows:
- 9.46 L/2.5 gallon jug
- 208L/55 gallon drum
- 1040 L / 275 gallon tote
- Bulk
To ensure product purity and quality, all larger packages have closed Micro Matic systems. H2Blu diesel exhaust fluid is a
premium quality product guaranteed to be pure. Wakefield Canada tests the product at several stages throughout the
manufacturing and delivery process and verifies every batch. Wakefield uses closed systems on drums and totes and will test
bulk with the customer at delivery to ensure purity and engine performance meeting EPA and Canadian emissions standards.
H2Blu meets ISO 22241 and has been API certified and carries the API label (If any DEF product does not carry the API
certification label, its quality is not guaranteed to meet the API specs.)
Background on Diesel Exhaust Fluid
Effective January 2010, the EPA set new standards for diesel emission standards in North America. These have greatly limited
the allowable NOx levels, to be emitted from all diesel vehicles –trucks of all classes, passenger cars, machinery, etc. These
requirements have been legislated so that all new road vehicles with diesel engines, from 2010 on, will have new engines with
technology that will ensure the emission standards are met.
Most diesel engine manufacturers have focused on Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to reduce the oxides of
nitrogen (NOx) from diesel exhaust. SCR uses Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) and a catalytic converter to achieve the allowable
standards.
DEF is defined as AUS 32 (Aqueous Urea Solution 32%) made from 32.5% high purity urea and 67.5% de-ionized water. DEF
is easily compromised in terms of quality therefore extreme care must be taken in handling and storing to ensure it does not
get contaminated. Impurities will cause the fluid not to work properly; even one teaspoon of salt can contaminate a 20,000 L
tanker full of DEF.
